BSJ against the Hikvision mobile DVR
Search "DVR móvil" in Mexico or "DVR veicular" in Brazil and the first names are Hikvision and Dahua, because the CCTV distributor down the road already stocks them. The hardware is good. What you are buying with it is a security ecosystem, not a telematics one.
The price
The recorder is the cheap part; the 4G is a separate box
A Hikvision mobile DVR is priced like CCTV, because it is sold through CCTV distribution. That is genuinely competitive on the recorder — and then the telematics half of the job is a plug-in module on a second line of the quote.

Their dash cams, which is the half of the range nobody compares
The recorder is what gets compared; the mirror dash cams are what the channel actually sells, and they sit in the same price band as ours. The difference is not the picture. It is that none of these reports to anything — GPS is an optional module, there is no SIM, and the footage lives on the card until somebody walks to the vehicle with a laptop.

Same distributor, read 22 September 2026, VAT removed. The AE-DC line is a good camera sold as a camera. Ours is the same money for a camera that is already on a platform, which is the whole comparison — there is no Hikvision line on this table that gives the fleet an event queue, a clip to share or a vehicle it can see from an office.
When to buy theirs instead
- If the customer wants a week of eight-channel footage on a bus, a 2 TB drive beats any card we can offer. Sell the Hikvision and keep the customer.
- The security channel has stock, credit terms and next-day delivery in most Latin American capitals. As a first-year importer we cannot match that on lead time, only on price and on what comes with the box.
- If you are already a CCTV shop moving into fleets, the learning curve on their tooling is zero. That is worth real money in the first year.
